Our plans are not that different, the main difference is you want the to self deport, move their family (if they have one), lose their job, go through some process out of country, and then eventually come back.

Hold on - Jesus never said that. That was Paul in Ephesians 6:5-7 and Colossians 3:22. Jesus's only interaction with slaves (in the gospels) was to heal them.
History especially ancient history is shrouded in mist, we will never know what actually happened unless someone invents a time machine. That being said history is written by the victor and or those that control power. I am sure that every one of the events pointed out in the OP did not happen as written but I know better than to take the Churches version of history.
The problem is when the book is quoted to oppose/change/approve/ban a law. In that case, the contents of the books need to be read and rethought, because they affect those who do not believe in or didn't even read them.
I don't think I've ever thought of myself as special. I'm no 'pinnacle of creation', I'm too aware that this earth is estimated to harbor 8.7 billion species and they've all, simultaneously, evolved to be here with me, today.
